Other Theresa

If you mutter: 'there's a pun
about a nun based in Calcutta',
You're trying to poke fun,
but a comparison is sick.
I've never nursed a leper,
or raised orphans from the gutter:
I was brought up Protestant -
and she was Catholic.

Yeah, I've heard 'trees are green'
(brown in Autumn, bare in Winter);
And whilst it is a fact
that you might see me in a park;
In my defence, I'll take offence;
so try to take the hint - or
You'll realise my bite is
far more dreadful than my bark.

It is wrong to tease her:
it is better to appease her:
(Don't joke of Elm Disease, or call her 'Mother'):
Put a momentary freeze
upon your comic expertise
and refer to this Theresa
as the 'Other'.
